Connecting with Dementia Patients Through Touch

connecting-dementia-patients-touchOne of the things I enjoy most about speaking at caregiving conferences is having the opportunity to meet other family and professional caregivers and hear their stories.

A lot of people think that when a person has Alzheimer’s and they can no longer recognize loved ones or carry on a conversation, that they can no longer participate in or enjoy any type of communication. I learned that simply is not true from a woman in Macon, Georgia when I spoke at an Alzheimer’s conference there a few years ago.
